Psalms 141:3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth;Keep watch over the door of my lips. 4 Do not incline my heart to any evil thing,To practice wicked works... NKJV

Proverbs 17:11 An evil man seeks only rebellion; Therefore a cruel messenger will be sent against him. NKJV

Focusing too much, on the way I want things to be, opens the door to rebelliousness-- in place of doing the good and right things I should do.

Proverbs 17:24 Wisdom is in the sight of him who has understanding, But the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth. NKJV

This adds more reinforcement to the principle of not focusing on your wishes so much that you're not faithful to do what is right.

Ezekiel 18:31a Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit.

Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” NKJV

This is what I most want to be wrapped up in instead of worldly things!

Luke 8:26 Then they sailed to the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee. 27 And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!”

If I get too casual in how I live my life under God's authority, it can get to the point that my attitude is like that of the demons the Gadarene man was possessed by: "What have I to do with you, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?"

Luke 8:38 Now the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying, 39 “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.

Sometimes we forget very quickly the great things God has done for us!

Luke 8:46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
48 And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

We can be of good cheer when we draw near to Jesus in faith!

Colossians 2:5b rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.

Good order is always a positive thing. You can still have good order even if you're disappointed with your life in some ways right now. In fact, if good order was only present when things were really going well, good order would seldom ever exist-- because we all go through trials and tribulations and they're a part of our spiritual growth process.

Colossians 2:6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,

I'm so immensely thankful for everything that Jesus has done for me. This thankfulness and joy should be present in my walk in Him! What a joyous way to quietly revitalize your life!

1 Corinthians 10:12-13

1 Corinthians 10:12-13 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (KJV)

This scripture describes God's loving care for us as we face temptations. We have God's assurance that our temptations will never be more than we can stand and God even promises to make a way of escape from the clutches of each and every temptation. Just writing this makes me feel like such a victor! Sometimes I like to see the spiritual life as streams and I've got to stay in the stream of the Spirit and avoid entering the stream of the flesh. Sometimes temptation makes me feel as if I'm in a pit. God has promised that when we're in the pit of temptation that we'll find handholds and footholds that are adequate to help us climb out. Just make sure you climb out and never give the devil any foothold (Ephesians 4:27). If God makes you conscious of a way of escape from a temptation, be smart and quickly make good use of the way of escape God has provided.
