I'm having a lot of problems with my wrist, so I'll just be posting scriptures that speak to my heart the most from my Bible reading, and sometimes write a little bit about what God is teaching me through these scriptures.

Ezek 22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. KJV

Christians are supposed to be holy. We shouldn't let our bodies be defiled by the disregarding of the importance of eating for good health or by not caring how unhealthy something we're eating is.

Prov 21:10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes. KJV

Taking good care of your body so you'll be able to be of help, in whatever way you can, to whoever God puts in your path, is one way of showing favor to your neighbors.

Prov 21:17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich. KJV

This is one important reason to not love pleasure.

Prov 21:20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up. KJV

In the life and home of a Christian whose life glorifies God, there is treasure, which is even valuable in promoting God's kingdom. We should remember this and live like it.

Prov 21:25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour. KJV

It's senseless to not labor to do good things God puts in our hearts to do, as well as all the necessary things that are so helpful in day to day life.

Psalms 145: 7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness. 8 The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. 9 The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. 10 All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee. 11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power; 12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom. KJV

1 Timothy 6:6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. NKJV

How content we are is always one of the foremost things in our minds. How godly we are needs to be also. We should always try to be godly in every moment of our lives, remembering what great gain it is if we're content in it.

1 Timothy 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: (KJV)

Job 20:12 “ Though evil is sweet in his mouth, And he hides it under his tongue, 13 Though he spares it and does not forsake it, But still keeps it in his mouth, 14 Yet his food in his stomach turns sour; It becomes cobra venom within him. NKJV

Evil, even though it may seem innocuous at first, always turns things sour-- which is why we must forsake it and walk by the light of God's word the Bible. We can be deceived by the devil, but find wonderful truth to live by in the Bible, which effectively counteracts all the lies of the devil.

Psalm 144:1 Blessed be the LORD my Rock,
Who trains my hands for war,
And my fingers for battle—
2 My lovingkindness and my fortress,
My high tower and my deliverer,
My shield and the One in whom I take refuge,
Who subdues my people under me. NKJV

It is so great to be a child of the LORD. In Him there are immense and wonderful blessings. We can always rely on Him.

Proverbs 20:3 It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel. NKJV

Some people start arguments thinking they are smart, but this verse says the opposite.

Proverbs 20:6 Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful man? NKJV

Does your faithfulness measure up to your opinion of your own goodness?

Proverbs 20:11 Even a child is known by his deeds, Whether what he does is pure and right. NKJV

To try to do what is pure and right all the time sets an honorable standard to live by.

Proverbs 20:18 Plans are established by counsel; By wise counsel wage war. NKJV

Counsel allows you to benefit from someone elses experience, so you will have greater success in what you do.

Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the inner depths of his heart. NKJV

2 Kings 18:1 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea the son of Elah, king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz, king of Judah, began to reign. 2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah. 3 And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father David had done. NKJV

2 Kings 18:5 He trusted in the LORD God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him. 6 For he held fast to the LORD; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD had commanded Moses. 7a The LORD was with him; he prospered wherever he went. NKJV

Hezekiah set such a godly example to follow: he did what was right in the sight of the LORD; trusted the LORD; held fast to the LORD and did not depart from following Him. In Hezekiah's true devotion to the LORD, blessings were apparent-- the LORD was with him and Hezekiah prospered wherever he went.

2 Kings 18:11 Then the king of Assyria carried Israel away captive to Assyria, and put them in Halah and by the Habor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes, 12 because they did not obey the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed His covenant and all that Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded; and they would neither hear nor do them. NKJV

It's important to learn how God expects us to live by reading and studying the Bible often and going to church regularly where we can hear God's Word proclaimed. Just knowing what God says we should do is never enough. Obedience to God's Word really matters!

Ezekiel 21:24 “Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Because you have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear—because you have come to remembrance, you shall be taken in hand. NKJV

God said "in all your doings your sins appear". In contrast to this we are supposed to be sanctified wholly.

1Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV)

Acts 4:10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” NKJV

Not everyone knows that Jesus Christ is the chief cornerstone. Who do you know that needs to hear about it?

Luke 11:27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!” 28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” NKJV

God's Word, the Bible, is wonderful, as is living by it.

Luke 11:33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. 34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. 35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light. KJV

When Jesus gives you light and you appreciate being able to walk in the light, light begins to pervade everything about your life-- to your rejoicing and genuine desire to have no darkness in your life.

Hebrews 1:8 But to the Son He says: “ Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. NKJV

How wonderful that Jesus reigns in righteousness, leads us in righteousness and died for our sins and rose from the grave, so that we may receive His righteousness by believing in Him-- so that we will have right standing with God and can go to Heaven.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. NKJV

We're blessed to have a families and we can be a blessing to a family member in their time of need and will be honouring God by doing so.

1 Timothy 5:22 Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure.

We need to keep ourselves pure because then God's light can be reflected most clearly and effectively through us. Christians are in the world but are not to be worldly. Keeping yourself pure presents God with a pure vessel to use to His glory.

Job 1:1
1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. (KJV)

Job 19:13-19
13 He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
14 My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
15 They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight...
16 I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
18 Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
19 All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me. (KJV)

Job 19:21 “Have pity on me, have pity on me, O you my friends, For the hand of God has struck me! NKJV

Many terrible things had happened to Job but the Bible says he was perfect and upright. At this horrible time he was rejected and treated badly when he needed kindness and mercy. Perhaps one reason could have been that people thought he was deserving of what happened to him. This is an important lesson to remember today, because there are many people in difficult situations today who need love and kindness and mercy extended to them in place of ignoring them or judging them.

Psalm 143:6 I spread out my hands to You; My soul longs for You like a thirsty land. Selah... 8 Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You... 10 Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. NKJV

Proverbs 19:2b And he sins who hastens with his feet.

Sometimes quick turns onto a bad pathways occur. Instead we should pray and keep resisting temptation until we we have victory over the temptation. Staying on the right pathways, shown to us in the Bible, leads to godliness with contentment, which the Bible says is great gain.

Proverbs 19:16 He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is careless of his ways will die. NKJV

We should be careful to walk in God's truth. His Word is truth but sin is deceitful.

Proverbs 19:22 What is desired in a man is kindness, And a poor man is better than a liar. NKJV

Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the LORD leads to life, And he who has it will abide in satisfaction; He will not be visited with evil. NKJV

This is such a wonderful thing to remember!

Proverbs 19:27 Cease listening to instruction, my son, And you will stray from the words of knowledge. NKJV

We can gain much knowledge form listening to instruction. Straying from knowledge is foolish.

II Kings 17:1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years. 2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him... 6 In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. (KJV)

Just lessening the amount of sin in our lives doesn't please God who wants us to turn from our sin. Even though Hoshea, king of Israel, did less evil than the kings of Israel before him, Israel was still taken into captivity.

Ezekiel 20:7 Then I said to them, ‘Each of you, throw away the abominations which are before his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.’ NKJV

God doesn't want us to be caught up in idols because He has much better things for us. Because of the trouble that exists in the world, sometimes people mistakenly think idols are the answer when God is the answer. Even in many tribulations God is always the answer.

Ezekiel 20:12 Moreover I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between them and Me, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them. NKJV

Ezekiel 20:13 ...they did not walk in My statutes; they despised My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’... NKJV

God's Word supplies us with the answers for the best way to live; sin leads to death.

Ezekiel 20:20 hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.’ NKJV

Ezekiel 20:24 ...and their eyes were fixed on their fathers’ idols. NKJV

If we can keep from having our eyes fixed on idols we can be used by God much more in the growth of His kingdom, which is so worthy of our genuine focus. To have our minds on things above is an awesome thing. Being about our Father's business is such an honor.

Acts 3:2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; 3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms...6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. 7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength. 8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. (KJV)

Isn't it wonderful what God can do?

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; (KJV)

We should be eager to repent and do what God tells us to in His Word. There are wonderful blessings in obedience.

Luke 10:29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour? 30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead... 36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? 37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise. (KJV)

A neighbor can be someone besides a person you're acquainted with because they live nearby. It could be someone who would really be helped by your showing mercy to them.

Colossians 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; (NKJV)

Remembering to pray is of vital importance. So much of a change for the better can occur because we pray. Always include heartfelt thanksgiving in your prayers. God is worthy of our thanksgiving to Him.

Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. (KJV)

Walking in wisdom toward those who are lost can be helpful in winning them to Christ, and there is less time available than you think to act on behalf of this.

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. (KJV)

Everything you say needs to be said with Christlike grace and with suitableness to who you are speaking too.

1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. (KJV)

Psalms 142:2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble. (KJV)

Whenever a problem exists it's foolish to not seek God's help through prayer.

Proverbs 18:7 A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul. (KJV)

Words can be so destructive. Words said in the heat of the moment aren't forgotten but often bring hurt whenever they are remembered, causing turmoil in the heart of the loved one they were spoken to.

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. (KJV)

It is such an incomparably great thing to trust in the LORD and trust Him, in providing guidance, in the right way to live our lives.

Proverbs 18:12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility. (KJV)

Genuine humility is truly favored in God's eyes. The wise know and understand the value of humility. Haughtiness is caused by pride, which God hates.

Proverbs 18:15 The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge. (KJV)

It's prudent and very helpful, to recognize things one should do that are very beneficial, and make a faithful practice of them, in order to be a good steward.

Acts 2:8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”NKJV

Praise for God's wonderful works should be on our tongues. This was one of the first things the people heard after Jesus sent the gift of the Holy Spirit and it helped add to the beleivers at the creation of the church.

Acts 2:28 You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’ NKJV

We should tell people about Jesus. Salvation through belief in Jesus will make them full of joy. He will also make known to them the ways of life through His Word and the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” NKJV

Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. NKJV

Denial of self is part of being a disciple of Christ. Not spending money on myself that I should pay as tithes is one way of denying myself.

Luke9:26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels. NKJV

Don't be ashamed to share Christ and to live by and communicate His Word. Encourage with God's Word in love.

Luke 9:43a And they were all amazed at the majesty of God. NKJV

This is a great reason why we should share about Jesus Christ.

Luke 9:48 and said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me; NKJV

We should receive people in a welcoming way because doing this can help extend unto them a warm welcome into the kingdom of God.

Colossians 3:1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. NKJV

Setting one's mind on things above is one of the marks of a genuine disciple.

Colossians 3:8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. NKJV

I should bring honor to God by how I live.

Colossians 3:9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, NKJV

Renewal in knowledge, according to the image of Him who created me, should be apparent in how I live my life.

Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. NKJV

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

What a wonderful privelege that anything I do, I can do in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Colossians 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, NKJV
